Details
Join a classic western river trip along the Colorado River in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah. Flowing through stunning canyon country, this trip offers a mix of calm water and exciting whitewater. This remote adventure is perfect for a digital detox, with no cell service along the route.
The trip has two parts. First, enjoy a 25-mile paddle through Ruby and Horsethief Canyons in canoes, inflatable kayaks, or paddleboards, with opportunities for wildlife viewing and short hikes. Support rafts will carry gear and are available for those who prefer to ride. The second part is a full day of whitewater rafting through Westwater Canyon, featuring 17 miles and 11 Class III+ to IV rapids. Participants must be at least 10 years old for this section.
This multi-day experience offers a chance to reconnect, build skills, strengthen relationships, and unwind in a beautiful wilderness setting. The trip is designed to be inclusive for veterans with mobility restrictions, and family members are encouraged to join as part of the shared experience.
Eligible Participants
The BOEC extends a special invitation exclusively to military veterans and their families. This river trip is designed to accommodate veterans who have sustained a moderate to significant injury. Injuries may include but are not limited to brain injuries, PTSD, and/or amputees. Due to the social aspect of outdoor adventures and camping, participants must be ready to enjoy the company of other people.
