The Swim -- Alcatraz

We have space for ~80 swimmers in this event.  The swim is ~1.5 miles long.  It can be done without a wetsuit, but many folks wear a triathlon/swimming wetsuit.  The water will be in the low 60s at that time of year.  There will be adequate supervision from trained professionals, and there will be EMT support available out of an abundance of caution.  We have had many skills and ages participate with us over the years (age 10 - 87)!  The rule of thumb is that if you are able to swim 1 mile in a pool in ~40min, then you should feel very comfortable swimming with us.  

The Commitment

We are asking that each participant pledges to raise $500+ for the cause (in addition to the registration fee). Thanks to the generosity of supporters who have agreed to help cover the operational costs associated with the swim, we are able to continue the tradition of having 100% of funds raised from this event go to research!  



During registration, you'll be able to create a personalized webpage to help collect donations --  which we use to fund research grants selected through a rigorous peer-review process!
