Description

Who We Are

Every warrior has a next mission. We know that the transition to civilian life is a journey. And for every warrior, family member, and caregiver, that journey looks different.

About WWP

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began in 2003 as a small, grassroots effort providing simple care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of the first wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As their post-service needs evolved, so have our programs and services.

Today, through our direct programs in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with our advocacy efforts, we improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.

This effort requires the passion and commitment of friends, supporters, and like-minded organizations that enable us to fulfill our mission. With their collaboration and support, we strive to ensure that when those who serve come home, they’re afforded every opportunity to be as successful as a civilian as they were in the military.

MISSION

To honor and empower wounded warriors.

VISION

To foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history.

Who We Serve

Veterans and service members who served in the military on or after September 11, 2001, and incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound during or after service.

OUR CORE VALUES

Service: We serve and collaborate with humility, dignity, and respect.

Integrity: We are honest, transparent, and accountable.

Loyalty: We passionately commit to our mission and to each other.

Fun: We cultivate joy and belonging within our team and in our service to others.

Innovation: We have the courage to challenge the status quo and vigorously debate ideas in the pursuit of excellence.

Why Our Mission is Important

Countless brave men and women who served in recent military conflicts were injured in service or left with lasting invisible wounds, including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and debilitating brain trauma. Advancements in technology and medicine save lives – but the quality of those lives might be profoundly altered.

The numbers speak for themselves, because not every warrior can. With the support of our community of donors and team members, we give a voice to those needs and empower warriors to begin the journey to recovery.
