Description

Removing barriers to sports and fitness

What we do

As a non-profit specializing in adaptive sports, we encourage recreation, racing, and competition, while cultivating a sense of community for all athletes, who are not labeled by physical ability but rather their determination and will to succeed.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments by building confidence, community, health and wellness through swimming, biking and running.

Our Vision

To serve as the premier model for paratriathlon programs across the world.

About Us

Dare2tri is an Illinois-based 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization with the mission to enhance the lives of individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments by building confidence, community, health and wellness through swimming, biking, and running.

Since its 2011 inception, Dare2tri has encouraged recreation, racing, and competition in this trifecta of sports, while also cultivating a sense of community for all athletes, who are not labeled by physical ability, but rather their determination and will to succeed.

Dare2tri empowers athletes of all ability levels from beginner to elite to be physically active, engaged with their community, and set and reach goals. We transform lives by boosting individuals’ self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth.

"We believe what you learn from challenging yourself physically carries over into confidence and success in life."

- KERI SEROTA, CO-FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Seeing the need for triathlon in the adaptive sport community and having a passion for the sport, Keri Serota, Dan Tun, and Melissa Stockwell banded together to start Dare2tri in 2011.

Beginning with only a handful of athletes, Dare2tri has impacted more lives and helped more athletes cross the finish line than ever imagined. Dare2tri wants to keep the momentum going and continue to inspire many more athletes far into the future.

Crossing the finish line is an extraordinary, emotional experience that builds confidence and creates a sense of self-worth that extends into all aspects of life. We believe the finish line is truly just the beginning.

Who we serve

Dare2tri works with athletes of all ability levels from beginner to elite, including individuals who have a physical disability such as amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and those with visual impairments and blindness.

Youth

We strongly believe in the power of exercise and sport as a means for youth and young adults to gain confidence, build self-esteem, and improve overall health and wellness.

Injured Military

We empower injured service members and veterans through active participation in sport, recreation, competition, and in the greater community.

Adults

We create opportunities for individuals of all abilities to be physically active, from the beginner to elite level. The finish line is just the beginning.
