Description

Our Goal

To advance human potential and promote inclusion for all through the game of golf.

Our Mission

Serving individuals with disabilities through their inclusion in the game of golf, including but not limited to access, instruction, and competition at all levels providing a competitive pathway.

WHAT IS ADAPTIVE GOLF?

Like many adaptive sports, adaptive golf allows people with disabilities play the game of golf through modified rules or equipment, based upon the person’s abilities. Through innovation and collaboration within the adaptive community, USAGA members have been able to adapt golf for everyone. This is regardless of current health, physical, mental, sensory, coping and wellbeing status. U.S. Adaptive Golf Alliance (USAGA) helps to bring inclusion to those wanting to learn golf by offering clinics to show them the game through clinics. After being introduced to the game, we encourage players get out & play as much as possible with family & friends. As their skills improve they can choose to compete in adaptive tournaments around the country. The best players in the country can then track their progress within their sports classification in our USAGA Rankings & Standards!

Who We Are

A national coalition of leading adaptive golf organizations working together to grow the game of golf for the special needs community. Founded in 2014, the United States Adaptive Golf Alliance:

is a 501(C)3 national coalition of adaptive golf organizations with common goals and objectives.

includes 40+ member organizations across the United States.

provides adaptive golf to 40,000+ individuals annually.

Our Story

USAGA's coalition started and grew from the desire of several para-athlete golfers and adaptive golf organizations who were collectively passionate to form one voice to speak and act nationally to bring adaptive golf to individuals with disabilities and as a Paralympic sport to the Olympic Games.

USAGA was formed in 2014 under USOC guidelines and is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.

How We Help Adaptive Golfers

USAGA participants experience measurable physical, mental and wellbeing improvement in a deliberate & purposeful personal, welcoming, inclusive, diverse and equitable environment; USAGA members, coaches, and volunteers utilize evidence-based inclusive adaptive "full golf experience" methods for all individuals with physical, sensory and intellectual challenges of all ages and abilities; We measure personalized, beneficial outcomes occurring throughout the full lifecycle of an individual's recuperation, recovery and active life (with total quality process improvement cycles). We develop coaches in appreciative coaching clinics throughout the world, standardizes teaching techniques, & issues progress badges and certificates so results can be repeated consistently at scale; USAGA exercises sustainable national and international reach through our network of trained coaches, alliance of member organizations and affiliates in research, medicine and sports; Our governance recommendations set the best practice standards in training, adaptive golf techniques, adaptive rules and rankings.

Individuals’ experience steady measurable progress through lifecycle and lifetime in four domains.

Support individuals as they progress in their healing processes

Support in rehabilitative movement with purpose (ROM)

Progress through learning and experiencing and coping in social and recreational (on-course) Golf Environment

The final phase which may include competitive Golf skills and mentality.
