Description

OUR HISTORY

In 2009, pediatric therapists established a 501(c)3 because they realized children with disabilities were being left on the sidelines. They dedicated their lives to turning dreams into reality for these extraordinary children and their families.

In 2015, the Central Florida Dreamplex opened its first facility to offer fitness, recreation, and therapy for individuals of all ages with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities.

Today, the Central Florida Dreamplex offers traditional and recreational therapies, adaptive sports, education, vocational rehab, and social opportunities for the whole family.

Both the Clermont and Orlando sites have space for therapies, recreation, and education. Additionally, Clermont houses an accessible and adaptive fitness center. Sports clinics, practices, and games are often held at our partnering organizations, including Real Life Christian Church, Montverde Academy, and the Ice Factory, who generously provide us use of their venues at little to no cost.

Turning dreams into reality for our members, organizations such as Orlando City Foundation and UCF Athletics offer their athletes as volunteers, providing an amazing experience during our basketball, flag football, lacrosse, and soccer clinics.

Members, patients, and visitors to our facilities represent a diverse list of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputees, visual impairments, and other learning and intellectual disabilities.

Therapy

Central Florida Dreamplex offers Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Aquatic Therapy, and Early Intervention services.

Sports & Recreation

Recreational Therapy and Group Fitness

Recreational therapy is designed for those with physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities. Classes are designed to celebrate participants’ abilities and assist in the improvement of emotional, cognitive, physical, and social abilities. Classes are led by experienced instructors, and overseen by a Recreational Therapy Director.

Group fitness classes are available to members and visitors of all abilities.

Adaptive Sports

Adaptive Sports are designed for those with physical disabilities and are often played with the similar rules to typical sports. Sled hockey, sitting volleyball, and power soccer are just a few examples. While we work to build our larger facility, we are growing our adaptive sports programs at local, off-site venues.

Sport Clinics

Sports clinics are designed for those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Focus is on inclusion within typical sports, utilizing adaptations when necessary.

Swim Lessons

The Central Florida Dreamplex partners with local, adaptive aquatics certified swim instructors to offer adaptive swim lessons to children and adults with disabilities and/or special needs. Lessons take place in the Spring and Summer seasons at the participant’s home pool, HOA/community pool, or the Dreamplex Partner pool (located in Clermont, FL)
