Description

Summary

We provide opportunities for persons with physical disabilities and their loved ones to enjoy the sport and lifestyle of climbing. We provide instruction, adaptive gear, plenty of encouragement and a cool community of people to help reach new heights.

Description

Join Adaptive Adventures for an exciting evening of climbing at Chicago’s iconic Maggie Daley Park in conjunction with the Chicago Park District and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. Our trained staff and volunteers provide gear and teach essential skills for all abilities, making climbing accessible to everyone.

Who Can Attend?: We offer opportunities for individuals with primary physical or visual disabilities. Whether you're just starting out or you've been a member of the climbing community for some time, this is your chance to develop your climbing movement, techniques, and adaptive techniques.

Where and When?: This event is located at the Maggie Daley climbing wall.

Participants register and arrive promptly for one of two sessions: 6:00pm - 7:15pm, 7:15pm - 8:30pm

To ensure a successful experience, participants MUST register for a specific slot. This allows us to provide staff and equipment appropriately. Registration closes promptly on Mondays at 3:00 pm CST.

How Much?: Thanks to the generous support from our sponsors, donors, and partnership with SRALab/Maggie Daley, we are able to keep these costs extremely low and provide financial support.

Civilians with Disabilities: $11.00

Military: Free

Volunteers: Free.

Fees cover essential climbing equipment, expert instruction, and a memorable experience!

What to Bring?: Climbers are encouraged to wear comfortable and flexible clothing. Equipment is provided, including a helmet, harnesses, and shoes.

I Want to Volunteer: We welcome volunteers to support and learn with us. Volunteers are required to stay for both sessions and are allocated roles based on experience and skill set. Please let us know your areas of strength and how we can best support you in your role.
