Description
Event Details
Staunton State Park is hosting its third annual Adaptive Recreation Days event on August 11th from 10am to 2pm. This event will host booths from various adaptive recreation organizations around Colorado. It is a chance for our community to both serve and connect with the greater adaptive community. Some of last year's organizations that participated in addition to our own were the CPW Trackchair Program, National Sports Center for the Disabled, Wilderness on Wheels, Exploryst, Fishing Has No Boundaries, Leave-No-Trace, Boulder Outdoor Space and Mountain Parks and more.
There is a fee to enter any Colorado State Park unless you already have a state parks pass through your registration or otherwise. You can ask the front gate for directions on where how to get to the event within the park itself. Check out the Keep Colorado Wild CPW Parks and vehicle registration program here.
This is both a booth event and a Trail Trial. A trail trial is an another opportunity for prospective volunteers and adaptive hikers to check out our inclusive hiking, ask questions, meet our leaders and volunteers, and even check out what riding on or volunteering with the trailrider is like on our hikes. This event is non-committal, and you may visit for as little or long as you please either or both days. We will be launching 20-30 minute hikes from the trailhead where volunteers, trail leaders, and adaptive hikers can get to know one another and explore our equipment as well as the park. We will be grilling brats, burgers and veggie patties Sunday, so come hungry.
We will also be camping at Wilderness on Wheels June 10th. Wilderness on Wheels is an accessible campground down the road from Staunton State Park. We have an an excellent spot reserved for our group that can accommodate as many campers as are interested. Reach out to Jeffrey if you are interested in camping with us.
