About

Celebrate disability inclusion at the 22nd annual Achilles Hope & Possibility® 4M Presented by TD Bank. Since 1983, Achilles International has been empowering youth, adults, and veterans living with disabilities to participate in adaptive running and endurance sports. This race leads into July's Disability Pride Month and the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Achilles Hope & Possibility® was founded in 2003 by Trisha Meili, founding board chair of Achilles International, and Dick Traum, Achilles founder and former CEO, who sought to create a race for the disability community to come together with all runners.

Its name was inspired by Meili’s memoir about a high profile attack that left her with a traumatic brain injury and her recovery, I Am the Central Park Jogger – A Story of Hope and Possibility. Since its inception, Achilles chapters around the world have hosted their own Hope & Possibility® races annually. The Achilles Hope & Possibility® 4M Presented by TD Bank is one of the largest inclusive races of its kind in the U.S., welcoming athletes of all ability levels and wounded, ill or injured veterans. It is operated annually by New York Road Runners (NYRR) and held in Central Park. View a recap of last year's race here. The 2024 race will be held on Sunday, June 23.

Kids Can Run Too!

Rising New York Road Runners welcomes your child to participate in the race-day fun with non-competitive short dashes for Stage 1 (ages 2 to 11). Registration for all Rising New York Road Runners events is completely FREE and made possible by the generosity of our community.

Why Race with New York Road Runners?

When you run with NYRR, you do more than compete in a world-class race—your support and participation play a role in fulfilling our mission to help and inspire people through running, and benefit NYRR’s free youth and community programs, including Rising New York Road Runners, NYRR Striders, Open Run, and more.
