The 2026 PPH Area Winter Games will be held at Hermon Mountain and Sawyer Arena for school age and adult athletes. This will be a one day event. Qualifying scores required for all athletes, in all events, except Alpine. Award ribbons will be provided on site.
NEW this year: In recognition of our decades long relationship with Hermon Mountain and current owners Bill & Marlene Whitcomb, we will be having our banquet and dance at the Hermon Mountain Lodge! An Area Athlete Leadership Award will be announced this year at the banquet. See below for more information on athlete event registration, banquet tickets, lodging and to nominate an athlete for the Athlete Leadership Award. Lots to look forward to!

Monday 2/9:
9:00-9:30 School Team Registration
9:00-11:30 Speedskating- All ages at Sawyer Area
10:00-12:00 School Age- Snowshoe & Alpine events at Hermon
11:45-12:15 Adult Team Registration (Do not arrive prior to 11:45!)
12:15 Opening Ceremonies
12:30- 3:00 Adult Age- Snowshoe, Nordic, & Alpine events at Hermon
Banquet: Monday 2/9 at the Hermon Mountain Lodge. Arrival 5:00, Dinner 5:30-6:30pm, Dance till 8:30pm.
Events Offered:
Snowshoe: 25M, 50M, 100M (choose up to two races) Qualifying scores required for ALL
Alpine: Ski or Snowboard Slalom (please indicate athlete Level: 1-Beginner, 2-Novice, 3-Intermediate, 4-Advanced), Dual Ski
Nordic: 100M, 500M, 1K (choose up to two) Qualifying scores required
Speedskating: Choose two of the shorter races: 25M, 25M Sit Skate, 50M, 50M Sit Skate or Choose up to three of the longer races: 100M, 300M, 500M, 1000M Qualifying scores are required for Speedskating.
To Register Your Delegation:
Step 1: Complete the Intent to Participate & HOD Information Form here.
Step 2: View Team Registration Excel using this link.
Step 3: Download a copy of the Registration Excel to your computer by selecting File, then Save As, and Save As your Delegation Name-Winter Games for the file name
Step 4: Complete a row for each Delegation member (HOD, Coach, Assistant Coaches, Athletes & Unified Partners). Complete all necessary YELLOW HIGHLIGHTED columns only. Qualifying score required for all ages, in all events except Alpine. Enter qualifying times as minute.second.millisecond, using all periods instead of colons. (Example: 1.23.0 for 1 minute 23 seconds)
Step 5: Save your completed registration copy
Step 6: Email final Delegation registration to [email protected] by 1/21 (Please put your Delegation Name-PPH Winter Games Registration in the email subject line- thank you!)

Banquet:

As many of you know, this is the last Winter Season with Bill & Marlene as owners and we would like to celebrate all of our wonderful years together, all are welcome!
Date & Time: 2/9, Arrival 5:00 Dinner 5:30-6:30pm, Dance till 8:30pm with DJ Jeff!
Banquet Tickets: Tickets are $10 per person.
Catered dinner and dessert provided by PPH Special Olympics.
Purchase banquet tickets online here by 1/26. Tickets that have been reserved and paid for will be given to HODs at Winter Games.
Area Athlete Leadership Award:
A Special Olympics Area Athlete Leadership Award recipient would exemplify tenacity, sportsmanship, teamwork, courage and demonstrate athletic skill in practice and competition. They act as a role model for other Special Olympics athletes and have positively impacted their team by being a resource, a motivator, and encourager. They lead by example and inspire those around them. They have a commitment to Special Olympics and believe in all abilities and possibilities.
Click here to nominate an athlete by describing how this athlete has displayed the above traits and why he or she should receive this award. This Leadership Award will be presented at the banquet. The recipient will receive a trophy and become the torch bearer for the next year. Nominations due by 1/26.

Required Paperwork Reminder:
Complete ALL required forms below for Athletes, Coaches, Volunteers & Unified Partners prior to the event if you have not already done so previously. (Volunteer A/Unified Partner forms expire after 3 years). Athlete Forms are good for 1 year, with just a renewal signature if there are no changes.
1) SOMaine Athlete Forms or complete online at Athlete Resources Please note: A renewal signature is required each year. Printable Renewal Form or complete renewal online at Athlete Resources. If there are changes to the information please complete a new Athlete Form packet.
2) SOMaine Coach & Unified Partner Forms (Volunteer A & Communicable Disease Waiver) or view online at Volunteer Resources. Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Unified Partners over 18 please also visit the above link to complete the online background check and protective behaviors.
3) Head Coach Sport Certification Each team needs at least 1 sport certified Head Coach
4) The required paperwork in #1-3 can be completed online (preferred) or in paper form and emailed to [email protected] at the Special Olympics State Office. Please keep a copy for your records! If families are completing paperwork online, please have them forward the confirmation email to the HOD/Head Coach for your records.
