Community “Sprint” Races, Kids “Races” and Learn to Ski Day
Sunday, February 8th, 2026 | Concord Community Nordic Trails at Beaver Meadow Golf Course
Local skiers looking to support our community trails? Never been on cross-country skis before but curious to try? Whichever describes you, we’d love to see you at Beaver Meadow Golf Course! This event pairs an exciting and inclusive “Queen’s Court” sprint competition with a free Learn-to-Ski clinic for those new to the sport! In partnership with Concord BKL there will also be kids “races” for preschoolers through 8th grade.
Capital XC Ski Day – Sprint Race
We are excited to debut a new format for our community race this year! This event is a low-key,
community-oriented (all-comers) Freestyle (Skate or Classic) Sprint (1-1.5k) competition featuring the fun and inclusive Queen’s Court format.
How the Queen’s Court Works:
6 person heats will go off every few minutes for three rounds of head-to-head racing. After the first two rounds of heats:

Top 2 finishers move “up” to the next fastest heat.

Middle 2 finishers remain in the same heat.

Last 2 finishers move “down” to the next slowest heat.

Everyone is guaranteed three rounds of head-to-head racing, and the winners will be determined in the final, fastest heat! All ages and abilities are welcome to participate. The race is open to skiers on skate or classic skis but they will not be separately seeded.
Free Learn to Ski Group Lessons
Equipment loans of classic boots, skis, and poles are included! Cross-country skiing is a fun way to get outside and enjoy winter right in your own backyard. These Learn-to-Ski clinics are geared towards people 10 years of age and older who have never been on cross-country skis before. We aim to create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for people to try a new sport and discover the joy of gliding on snow.
New this year! Learn to Skate in addition to our Learn to Classic clinic. Skate Clinic Participants must provide their own equipment.
Also new this year – Introduction to Skiing for 6-10 year olds – partnering with NENSA and Concord’s Beaver Meadow School we will be offering intro to ski lessons – equipment will be provided. Anyone under 14 years of age should have a parent/caregiver with them participating or supervising.
Cost
All learn-to-ski clinics are free. The races feature registration fees to participate. All proceeds will be used to further improve the skiing at the Beaver Meadow Municipal Golf Course owned by the City of Concord.
Registration
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for all Sprint and BKL/youth races although “Day-of” registration is available for the Queen’s Court and BKL sprints.
Pre-registration is required for all Learn-to-Ski Clinics. To ensure that all clinic participants get the attention they deserve we cap the numbers of participants. Pre-registration also ensures that we have the right equipment on hand for you to use if you are borrowing equipment.
Parking & Check-in
The Concord Community Nordic Trails at Beaver Meadow Golf Course are located at 1 Beaver Meadow Dr, Concord, NH, 03301. All event participants must check-in at Registration, which will be located in the Clubhouse.
