Description
Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA), founded in Lake Forest 25 years ago, provides adaptive sports programming for individuals with physical or visual disabilities. The Timmy G Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Classic honors Timmy Gruensfelder, a long-time GLASA athlete who loved wheelchair basketball.
The 2025 Timmy G Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Classic will be held on Sunday, March 9 at noon at Vernon Hills High School. The event will welcome athletes of all abilities to participate in a fun, inclusive 3 v. 3 tournament. We invite companies, families, friends and organizations to create a team of 3-5 players including non-disabled individuals to try the sport and enjoy time on the court together.
GLASA Athletes will be on hand to coach and support each team and help them learn the sport of wheelchair basketball. The day will kickoff with a demo featuring current and former GLASA wheelchair basketball athletes. Sport wheelchairs will be provided as requested for each team and we will ensure appropriate sizing before tournament play begins.
3 players will be on court at any time for mini games, leading up to the tournament championship to close the event at 3:30pm. Team Registration is a $150 donation to the GLASA mission with a t-shirt provided to each athlete. Spectators are welcome to attend. Concessions, raffles and other programming will be held during the tournament.
