Not only do athletes receive physical training, but they receive tools to redefine their sense of self through mindfulness and mental training.

PHYSICAL TRAINING

The focus is on pain reduction, functional strength development, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, mobility, and building a community of support.

MENTAL TRAINING

What’s between the ears is the greatest asset towards one's potential. Adaptive athletes experience unique mindful and meditation training during the 9-weeks through 15-minute RECHARGE sessions before and after every workout. Physical training is the easy part, overcoming mental barriers, managing life’s stressors and PTS, and setting intentions and goals, allows for the greatest growth to do what was literally said to be impossible.

COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT

Aiming to create an army of support, trust, and renewed autonomy, ATF fosters a paradigm shift from defining oneself through a lens of impairment to one that is filled with possibility.

REDEPLOY TRIP

At the end of the 9-week REDEFINE program, all athletes participate in a 10th week REDEPLOY trip, where we test those newfound abilities in recreation sports like adaptive skiing, snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking, water sports, rock climbing, etc.

10- DAY HYPER TRAINING CAMP

60 HOURS OF TRAINING 100% COST-FREE $5,000 TO SPONSOR AN ATHLETE

The ATF Hyper Training Camp is a 10-day intensive camp serving highly competitive adaptive athletes who, because of their sport, career, or family, aren’t able to participate in ATF’s flagship 9-week REDEFINE program. This camp is designed to allow ATF to serve more athletes annually while equipping them with the tools to return to their communities as a catalyst that will pay forward these methods to other adaptive athletes.

ADAPTIVEX

AdaptiveX training is available for ATF athletes who have completed the ReDefine Program or Hyper Training Camp. It is designed for athletes who are looking to continue progressing toward their personal goals with a community of support around them.

While athletes go through the ReDefine Program and Hyper Training Camp, they are challenged to set future goals. AdaptiveX helps provide an avenue for athletes to continue to better themselves and take steps closer to their goals.

OUR STORY

In January of 2014, David Vobora, a 5-year veteran of the NFL, met US Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, a quadruple amputee. David opened up his personal gym to Travis, offering his training expertise. The pair started working out together, customizing and adapting to the unique challenges posed by Travis’ injuries.

Through working with Travis and engaging the veteran community, David developed a passion for helping those with life-altering injuries find life-fulfilling adaptive performance training. David realized that, while there are many excellent rehabilitation programs as well as adaptive/Paralympic sports organizations, none existed to bridge the gap from basic functional rehabilitation to adapted sport.

Adaptive Training Foundation (ATF) was conceived to fill this void. He continued helping adaptive athletes create sustainable lifestyle changes over the next six months, and by September of 2014, Adaptive Training Foundation had received its 501(c)3 status to allow outside support for these ambitious athletes.

To this day, ATF is committed to keeping its services to adaptive athletes 100% free of charge, and relies on the generosity of people like yourself to not only restore lives, but empower them through movement.
Organization locationContact nameContact form urlContact emailContact phoneInstagramFacebookTagsAdd applicable events tags.
